Kansas defers to the federal guidelines for its gifts-to-charity deduction. The total you deduct on your Kansas return will include all state and local real estate taxes paid, as well as any state and local personal property tax. That’s different from the federal deduction, which limits the amount to $10,000 ($5,000 if married filing separately). Kansas allows you to deduct 100% of the taxes you paid on real and personal property.
